Comments: WW2 Escape Button Compass. Approx diameter 19mm.
This bakelite button was designed by the team at MI9, to be sewn onto a battle dress blouse or trousers and look exactly the same as the standard buttons. When removed it could be placed in water or suspended by a thread to show North.
Two illuminous dots point North and one for South. Missing one of the dots. Also came in brown.
