144th Signal Squadron (144 Sig Sqn) is a unit of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. It is part of the 9th Brigade, 2nd Division.
144 Sig Sqn provides tactical communications and information systems to the 9th Brigade, Australian Army.
It supports 9 Brigade units in South Australia and Tasmania, by providing field deployable systems and technology.
The unit’s main elements are located at Keswick Barracks in Adelaide, South Australia, with an additional detachment located in Hobart, Tasmania.
144 Sig Sqn was raised in 1966 to support the 9th Task Force.
In 1988, the Squadron became part of 9th Brigade and moved to its present location at Keswick in 1992. It was granted Freedom of the City of Burnside, South Australia, in 1987.
Members of 144 Sig Sqn have served on many operations since World War II including Sinai, Cambodia and Bougainville. Recent deployments include Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands, Afghanistan and Iraq.
The motto of 144th Signal Squadron is ‘Certa Cito’, which is Latin for ‘Swift and Sure’.
