The 1st Combat Signal Regiment (1 CSR) provides communications and unit-level combat service support to the Headquarters 1st Brigade in order to enable command and control of forces assigned to the Commander 1st Brigade.

1 CSR is based at Robertson Barracks, Palmerston in the Northern Territory.

Structurally, 1 CSR comprises three squadrons: two Signal Squadrons (104 and 105 Signal Squadron) and a Support Squadron (HQ Squadron) in addition to the Regimental Headquarters. In order to effectively support Army’s only mechanised brigade, a number of platforms are utilised. These platforms are primarily armoured vehicles including the M113AS4s and Protected Mobility Vehicles that can provide a small manoeuvrable HQ, or a fully contained, field-deployable Brigade HQ capable of catering for over 120 subscribers.
