The 2nd General Health Battalion (2 GHB) is a unit of the 17th Combat Service Support Brigade. It is based at the Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera, Queensland.
The battalion is rapidly deployable to provide field medical support for land-based forces. This includes initial wound surgery, resuscitation and medium to high intensity nursing care, (surgical resuscitation) and medium to high intensity nursing care in the area of operations.
2nd General Health Battalion provides Role 2 Enhanced (R2E) and Role 2 Light Manoeuvre ( R2LM) health support in the deployed environment and to contribute to garrison health support, in order to maintain combat power for use by operational commanders.
