The 16th Battalion, Royal Western Australia Regiment, is an Army Reserve infantry battalion of the Australia Army.
16th Battalion, Royal Western Australia Regiment (16 RWAR), is located in Western Australia and one of the two battalions of the Royal Western Australia Regiment.
As a light infantry battalion, 16 RWAR’s mission is to train and sustain light infantry in order to provide specified forces for deployment on operations. 
In recent years, 16 RWAR soldiers have deployed in support of operations in Timor-Leste (East Timor), Malaysia, Bougainville, Afghanistan and Iraq. 
Volunteers have also deployed on coastal security and naval boarding party tasks in the Timor Sea. Other roles include supporting national counter-terrorist measures through service in the Reserve Response Force. 
The motto of the Royal Western Australia Regiment is ‘Vigilant’.
