17th Signal Regiment (17 Sig Regt) is an Army unit of the Royal Australian Signals Corps. 17th Signal Squadron is a part of the 17th Combat Services Support Brigade (17 CSS Bde).
The 17th Signal Regiment was raised on 30 Aug 2006. The unit’s role is to provide communications and information systems (CIS) support to all units within the 17 CSS Bde as well as logistic support to Force Support Group (HQ 17 CSS Bde).
The unit consists of:
• Regimental Headquarters,
• 110th Signal Squadron,
• 145th Signal Squadron,
• Operational Support Squadron, and
• 127th Signal Troop.
145th Signal Squadron was established in 1954 as an Australian Regular Army CIS Sqn. The squadron consists of three Australian Regular Army troops encompassing two contingency node Troops and a High Readiness Troop. The Squadron has recently changed from a four trade based Troop structure.
110th Signal Squadron, which is a specialist Squadron, with a Contingency Troop and 127th Signal Troop which provides niche capabilities to the ADF including installation and rigging roles.
Operational Support Squadron consists of transport, electrical and mechanical engineering, Q-Store and orderly support. Support squadron has the ability to deploy with either of the signal squadrons as an independent element or as a Sqn sized organisation.
