Comments: Colour Patch – 44th Battalion (West Australian RIfles).

Reference – KG 880

This was a West Australian unit which deployed and trained in that state for the majority of the war. During the Japanese invasion scare of 1942 – early 1943, elements of the battalion formed part of a Special Mobile Force which was designed to respond quickly any invasion threat. By 1944 the danger had obviously passed and the battalion was moved to Queensland for jungle training, but was disbanded on 17 July 1944 and the battalion’s personnel moved to other battalions.
