Joint Task Force 633 was Australia’s military contribution to the international campaigns against terrorism, countering piracy in the Gulf of Aden, maritime security, and United Nations operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Joint Task Force 633 (JTF633) provides the umbrella Joint Task Force for all Australian forces deployed in the Middle East Region. Its primary headquarters is based at Camp Baird, Al Minhad Airbase in the United Arab Emirates. The current commander is Major General Craig Orme.
Joint Task Force 633 provides to support to three separate operations:
Operation ACCORDION: Australia’s Operational Support mission based at Al Minhad Airbase and with personnel in the broader region to provide logistical, administration and technical support to all operations in the Middle East Region. 
Operation MANITOU: Australia’s contribution to maritime security, counter-terrorism and counter-piracy operations in support of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF). Australia has continuously rotated a major warship through the region since the first Gulf War in 1990 and now contributes to the 30-nation CMF in the maritime security environment, an area of more than two million square miles, encompassing the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Gulf of Oman.
Operation SLIPPER: Australia’s mission in Afghanistan to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in both Kandahar and Kabul. Australian personnel are also deployed to key staff positions with ISAF Headquarters, ISAF Joint Command (IJC) as well as United Nations efforts under Operation PALATE II – the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
