Comments: Mentoring Task Force – Gunners Deployment Patch. Worn in Afghanistan by Australian soldiers who are artillery mentors from the First Mentoring Task Force.
Artillery mentors from the First Mentoring Task Force are training an Artillery Battery of Afghan gunners equipped with the D-30 122mm Howziter at Multinational Base – Tarin Kot.
The detachment is focused on developing the Afghan National Army capability so they can start employing it throughout the province.
Training consists of getting the Afghan National Army gunners’ exposure to realistic situations and to do this they deploy the guns out to the heavy range and conduct several dry fire missions.
