During World War One these badges were a recognisable indication that the wearer had attempted to voluntarily enlist for military service for Australian and the British Empire during World War 1. They were issued to men who had been officially deemed medically unfit for duty. During the course of the War, the Rejected Volunteers’ Association was established in various Australian states. This badge was produced for the rejected volunteers of New South Wales. Later, the R.V.A. amalgamated into the Australian Volunteers Association.
Stirling Silver hallmarked.
