2600 Sgt Andrew Conill GOVE DCM 13th Battalion AIF. Note: Spelt ‘Andrew Coull Gove’ on Nominal Roll.

Missing in France 11/04/1917 and a Prisoner of War for 15 months.

Distinguished Conduct Medal Citation:
‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He entered an enemy dugout, and, single handed, captured five prisoners. Later he repeatedly carried bombsa to the front line under intense fire. On another occasion, at great personal risk, he extinguished a fire which broke out in a bomb of bombs.’
